How HT Solutions Helped hashbank Strengthen Kubernetes Security with Tigera 

As hashbank, a fully licensed digital bank, rapidly scaled its operations to serve tens of thousands of users in just months, it needed an infrastructure capable of supporting hyper-growth and faster development. The bank moved from a monolithic architecture to Kubernetes-based microservices, enabling teams to develop and deploy products more independently.

While this transition improved scalability and flexibility, it also introduced new security and operational challenges.

With hundreds of microservices communicating across its Kubernetes environment, hashbank needed greater control and visibility over its network.

In a fintech environment handling sensitive financial data, compromising on security is not an option. hashbank required a strict zero-trust architecture with granular control and deep visibility over its network.

As a financial institution, hashbank needed to strengthen security without slowing down development or disrupting essential services.
 

Creating a More Secure and Observable Kubernetes Infrastructure:
 

HT Solutions, in collaboration with Tigera, implemented Calico Enterprise across hashbank’s production Kubernetes environment.
 

The solution introduced a zero-trust approach based on default-deny policies. This meant workloads could communicate only when access had been explicitly authorized.
 

Fine-grained network policies allowed hashbank to control communication at workload, application, and namespace levels. This microsegmentation isolated different parts of the platform, helping reduce the risk of unauthorized lateral movement.
 

Calico Enterprise also provided real-time network visibility. Technical teams could identify:
 

• The source and destination of each connection

• The port being used

• Whether traffic was allowed or denied

• Which security policy made the decision

Staged policies allowed teams to evaluate new security rules before enforcing them, reducing the risk of accidentally interrupting legitimate services.
 

The Impact of HT Solutions’ Kubernetes Security Approach:

Following the implementation, hashbank gained stronger control and clearer visibility across its Kubernetes network.

Security policies could be applied more consistently, while workload and namespace isolation strengthened the platform’s overall protection. Unauthorized communication could be detected and blocked more effectively, and detailed network data provided clearer support for compliance and audit processes.
 

Troubleshooting also became more efficient. Instead of manually reviewing logs, Network Policy files, and individual pods, teams gained a unified view of network traffic and policy decisions.
 

By implementing Calico Enterprise with HT Solutions and Tigera, hashbank established a more secure, observable, and scalable Kubernetes environment ready to support the continued growth of its digital banking services.
